Cold And Quite Around Here
It’s cold and quite around here. Not even the sounds of the city are around to keep me company. The snow muffles everything. While laying in bed last night I could hear the sounds of tree limbs cracking under the weight of the heavy snow and occasionally the waterfall sound of snow sliding off the steep roof of the church next door. In the morning I woke to the sound of snow shovels scraping the sidewalks (an all too common occurrence) and chainsaws cutting down fallen limbs. The snow has kept me socked in for the last two days. Mostly I’ve just been trying to keep from getting cabin fever. I’ve got nothing exciting to report. I went for a long walk yesterday but everything was closed. I didn’t dare try and take my car anywhere. On Tuesday night I went to a local bar. I waited, but you never made it. Why are you looking around? Yeah, I mean you. So went to another bar where an incredibly skinny and incredibly drunk gay (flaming) man hit on me till it got annoying. The bar tender actually had to tell him to lay off. I’ve been working like crazy lately. I’ve been watching a lot of TV too. There is lots happening around the world today. America is involved in another war. But here in Hubsville it just seems really quite and cold. And I’m just a little bit scared.

Chris, who took the picture linked above, also took some other great pictures of the snowstorm at his house.
I’ve also a couple got pictures of the Chili Cook-Off and Utah trip posted. They aren’t very good. Hopefully I’ll get some better ones soon.

I am so GLAD to know there is a real medical condition known as cabin fever. I mean, ever since I spent a winter in Vancouver, B.C. and it rained 50 days straight, I believed in SAD. I sent the link to my sister and my brother, who get what I call winter fever. They are grouchy old bears. For months on end.

Hey I have been meaning to ask you…. where did “Hubs” come from? At first I thought you were some 50 year old happy&content househusband with 5 kids or something….. back before Hubsville, I mean.

I too have been affected by SAD for the last few years. It doesn’t usually arrive till around mid December and then usually starts to taper off around mid January. It doesn’t effect me drastically, but enough to notice a mood my change.
