Exploding Luminary (A Metaphor?)

Over the past weekend, in between nursing myself to health (it’s not a big deal, a simple cold, I really haven’t meant to be all dramatic lately. Sorry.) I was able to fit in a good dinner with my Soph, my brother, and Pandy. In addition, I was able to go down and visit my grandma for her 92 birthday. We did much the same as we did last year. We brought a plant and a bunch of grub from Boston Chicken. Grandma loves her some Boston Chicken. She was a lot more active this year than last, which just amazes me. Fucking 92. I’ll be happy if circle that giant, exploding, luminary, central (in more ways than one) to our existence 70 times. She and my mom actually got a little chippy with each other and voices were raised. My mom apologized on the way home. I was just glad to see she had some fight in her. Actually, I’m glad to see there is some fight in them both.

That’s really sweet that you guys did that for your grandmother.

And I love Boston Market. My favorite sides are the corn and the creamed spinach. And yours?

For the most part, old people suck. It’s one of those undeniable facts of life. It’s always nice to hear that there are still old people who don’t suck left out there. Here’s to 102 grandma. Cheers.

blossom - my favorites are the corn and creamed spinach as well but their corn bread is pretty good too. i’m really not a big fan of “country cookin’” places like boston market and the black eyed pea though.

satan - it’s nice to here there are people who don’t suck out their period(.)

Actually, when I worked in the nursing home a few years ago, I found that I like the cranky old people even more than the sweet ones- as long as they’re genuinely cranky and not just senile. One of my fave ol’ laidies was mean as hell. I personally hope I get old enough to emulate her one day!
