I took the image below during a trip to New York way back in 2006. The photo was used for an article in The Washington Post last Thursday. The article is about the SEC circuit-breaker rules that are going into effect this week.

Piper wants to play a game. This game doesn’t have a name but a it does have a set of stringent rules. The rules go something like this: You have to take a photo of yourself as soon as you see you’ve been tagged. You’re not allowed prepare, primp, or edit! You must post the photo immediately.
I’ve never been one to break the rules so here you go – one unedited photo shot via the ole’ webcam.

Yesterday I was bestowed the honor of one of having one of my photographs be the 1,000th image posted on the Deleted Images: The Junkyard Of Art photoblog.
The photo was taken while swimming with dolphins on a trip to Florida early last fall and can be seen below. It’s true what they say – “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Thanks guys.
Photographer Richard Renaldi released a cool new project today called “Touching Strangers”. The collection consists of street portraits of, you guessed it, strangers touching. In an interview with Jörg Colberg, Richard explains:
It is rather awkward to approach someone and ask them if they are interested in touching another stranger for a photograph. I think maybe my nervous, slightly pleading voice kicks in, combined with a little charm. I generally give them my spiel about being a photographer working on a project, and I try to have my book, Figure and Ground, to show to them. It was never easy – though most everyone who agreed to participate was a good sport. Most people eventually grasped the concept, and often it seemed to be a pleasant distraction from their day.

Last Monday at twilight, a large cumulonimbus was hovering over east side of Denver. As an official member of the Cloud Appreciation Society, I went out to snap a few photos of this beauty.

Uli Westphal presents us with a strange, and incredibly large, photographic collection of mutated fruits, roots and vegetables. The artist thinks these photos addresses the extent to which we control and shape the appearance of nature through lawfully enforced standards and commercial selection. I think they’re interesting to look at as an archive of biological diversity.
